Hi, I’m so glad you’re here
I love what I do and I’m excited to share it with you and your child.
I am a Colorado native, outdoor enthusiast, and lover of all things literacy. My greatest professional joy is seeing the “lightbulb moment” when learners find their confidence and realize they have the tools within them to flourish.
Engaging with children is crucial to my professional happiness and fulfillment. Literacy is my sweet spot and my specialty. I spent six years in the classroom, with first and second graders and quickly realized the power literacy has for children as they develop. After that realization, I moved into a reading intervention role, focusing my training and my work for two years on providing research-based interventions to students with the greatest identified needs in literacy. My husband jokes that I was like the "Reading SWAT Team," pulling kids from their regular classrooms for intensive literacy sessions--based on their individual strengths and needs--designed to catch them up to grade-level standards. Alchemy Tutoring grew out of that experience and is designed to provide similar customized literacy support outside the constraints of public education.
I have a master's in curriculum and instruction, a reading teacher endorsement, and a teaching certification, which I actively maintain through continuing education. I am an Associate Level Member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy and trained in LETRS. I have nearly a decade of experience in education as a primary classroom teacher and reading interventionist. I have two years of experience teaching online and am a certified Apple Teacher.
The transformational impact of literacy on vocabulary, self-expression, emotional intelligence, and brain development is enormous. I look forward to working together to help your child experience that impact.
